How to Get Tix Fast in Retro Tower Defense
The short version
Every Tix multiplier in the game is on this list, in order of value:
| Source | Multiplier | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Triple Trouble modifier | +30% Tix and XP | Free (level 10) |
| No Heroes modifier | +25% | Free (level 10) |
| Unsupportive modifier | +20% | Free (level 10) |
| Extremely Hyper modifier | +15% | Free (level 10) |
| Double Trouble modifier | +15% | Free (level 10) |
| Bullet Proof modifier | +15% | Free (level 10) |
| Doombringer Hell modifier | +15% | Free (level 10) |
| Hyper / Shortsighted modifiers | +10% each | Free (level 10) |
| Big Tix Boost | +35% for 1 hour | 109 Robux |
| Small Tix Boost | +15% for 1 hour | 59 Robux |
| Codes | Flat Tix, plus boost time | Free |
The point that page makes on its own: the free multipliers are bigger than the paid ones, and they stack. A 109-Robux Big Tix Boost gives +35% for an hour. Triple Trouble plus No Heroes plus Unsupportive gives +75%, permanently, for nothing.
Why “just play Hard” is the wrong instinct
New players assume higher difficulty means better Tix per hour. It does, but not as much as modifiers do, and difficulty has a failure mode modifiers do not: you lose the run.
The right frame is the highest-paying loadout you can still reliably clear. Take a one or two-star map from the map list — Arch Park, Crossroads, Happy Home — and pile enemy modifiers onto it. Double Trouble doubles the enemy count for +15%; Triple Trouble triples it for +30%. On a map with generous cliff spots and a long path, tripling a wave of Noobs is not meaningfully harder, and you are earning 30% more for it.
Compare that to Insane, which only 51,000 players out of 10.3 million have ever cleared once.
The modifiers to avoid while farming
Three modifiers reduce your payout, and one of them is a trap:
- Tag Team lets you place a second heroic and costs -65% Tix and XP. It is the single worst farming modifier in the game. Use it to clear something hard, never to grind.
- Telescopic (+30% tower range) costs -15%.
- Everything else on the modifier list either pays you or is neutral.
AFK farming, honestly
There is no legitimate AFK farm in Retro Tower Defense. Runs require placement and upgrade decisions, and the game does not idle. Search results for macros and scripts point at exploit tooling, which is a ban risk and not something this site will link to or explain.
What does work while you are not playing: nothing. Both Tix boosts explicitly do not tick while you are offline, so buying one before you log off wastes it.
Where the rest of your Tix come from
Daily rewards run on a 30-day cycle and reset to day 1 if you miss a day — the full table is below.
Codes are lumpy but real. Several expired codes were worth 500 to 750 Tix plus an hour of boost each. When an update drops, check the codes page before you start playing, not after.
Forsaken Tokens are a separate currency and only drop from the four Forsaken maps during the collab — see the Forsaken collab guide.
The daily reward tables, in full
Daily rewards were reworked on July 10th, 2026. Before the rework you could leave the game alone for days and still claim everything; since the rework you have to log in every day — miss one and the track resets to day 1, and after day 30 the cycle starts over. The community wiki also records that new players get the old 8-day track before the 30-day cycle (how the handover between the two works isn’t documented anywhere, so we won’t guess).
The current 30-day cycle:
| Day | Reward | Day | Reward | Day | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 trait token | 11 | Small Tix potion | 21 | 1,800 Tix |
| 2 | 1 trait token | 12 | 700 Tix | 22 | 3 trait tokens |
| 3 | Small Tix potion | 13 | 2 trait tokens | 23 | 3 trait tokens |
| 4 | 350 Tix | 14 | 2 trait tokens | 24 | 1,400 Tix |
| 5 | 1 trait token | 15 | 900 Tix | 25 | Big luck boost |
| 6 | Luck boost | 16 | Luck boost | 26 | 3 trait tokens |
| 7 | 1,000 Tix | 17 | 2 trait tokens | 27 | 4 trait tokens |
| 8 | 2 trait tokens | 18 | 1,000 Tix | 28 | Damage boost |
| 9 | 500 Tix | 19 | Luck boost | 29 | 5 trait tokens |
| 10 | 2 trait tokens | 20 | Big Tix potion | 30 | 10 trait tokens |
A full unbroken cycle pays 7,650 Tix in raw currency plus 41 trait tokens, four luck boosts (one of them big), three Tix potions and a damage boost. The back third of the track is where the value sits — days 21 through 30 hold 3,200 of the Tix and 28 of the 41 trait tokens — which is exactly why the reset-on-miss rule stings.
The 8-day track for new accounts:
| Day | Reward |
|---|---|
| 1 | 250 Tix |
| 2 | +15% Tix boost (30 min) |
| 3 | 2× luck (10 spins) |
| 4 | 750 Tix |
| 5 | +15% Tix boost (1 hour) |
| 6 | 1,500 Tix |
| 7 | 3× luck (20 spins) |
| 8 | Bling Bacon tower (shown in-game as “Rich Bacon”) |
What to spend it on
Not level 5 upgrades, early on. Tower cost scales hard: most towers spend more than half their total on the last two levels. Two towers at level 3 usually beat one at level 5, and the Tix-per-DPS table shows which towers give you the most damage for the Tix in the first place.
